Heh. :giggle: Yeaaahhhh... Sneevie! :slow:

My first ever character model done in Maya 8.5 . I created this using simple polygonal forms (mostly cylinders, spheres) and applied textures to the clothes and fur. I had NO IDEA how to make a face. NO CLUE. So, he has none ^^; Yeahhh. I tried even giving him emo hair and applying a texture to it but it looks meh-ish. Hey, its my first ever character model! Give me a break here! I made him from scratch and everything! ^3^ Hur. Anywhos.... guys. I wouldnt mind critiques on my stuffs here. If you know 3d that is XD; I didnt attach anything here as I hadnt learned it yet, I don think. So yeah. I also didnt make the arms underneath the clothing, even tough I should have. Dont worry, the teacher told me I should. But yeah. Thats about it. Enjoy my crappy 3d maya models ^^

It looks neat overall, but there are some things buggin me ^_^;

I can see you're squishing the jeans in a bit near the waist to fit them under the jacket. Rather than doing that, I'd suggest you keep them the same size and expand the jacket out so they can fit. The reason is that you want to keep the waist feeling "solid" and the current anatomy implies that the part where they go in is in the middle of the hips, where they should be going wider if anything ^_^;;

It's a bit on the huge legs side, but that may be deliberate in which case ignore me ^_^;;
If you do wanna change it, you might be able to get away with just resizing the legs down a bit. (assuming they're a seperate peice of geometry.) This might also make it easier to fit them into the shirt without squishing.

I'm seeing a little "pinching" down the middle, primarily on the shirt, and I'm guessing it's a seam from mirroring the model to make the second half. You may wanna do some manual point adjustment to smooth it out. ^^;

With regards to the face: Faces are hard. VERY hard. I honestly haven't learned enough about modeling to tell you how to do a realistic one. I will suggest that you look up as many tutorials as possible, because it's important to get right.

Anyway, I wanna see more of these when you do em! :D

Aw thanks so super much for the critique!!!! :dance: I was indeed considering in possibly going back in this one day to spice it up for my portfolio. I havnt touched it since Comp I. O_O; But anyway, good stuff. Im really not sure what happened with the hips there going under the jacket. I think I did that with out even thinking actually. But considering you did notice that fixing that will be a must! I think the huge legs thing is probably due to the fact that I didnt give him a crotch! XD'' Heh. I will have to resize his thighs perhaps and fit his torso inbetween them to create one. But yes, the pinching is something I didnt know how to fix at the time. Its definately a seam down the middle. I couldnt figure out why the horizontal lines were so displaced but im sure my teacher can help me figure something out.

And yeah, faces require so much modeling. Ive seen some modelers just give up and do a simple polygons sphere head with a few bumps for the nose, eyebrows and mouth, then they throw on a texture for the face and bam. But I wanted something a little more. I wanted to model the actual eyes and mouth and all. But that would look better with NURBS and im using polys here. :P

Sneeeeeeeevieeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! :giggle: Somehow I knew that he would be one of your models! :D

A few suggestions if I may though. I would reccomend raising his tail up a little more so that it does'nt look like he's.........made in his pants! ^^; Also I could reccomend turning the legs outward below the knee so that they are straight and proportional to the shoulders. Finally I would reccomend extending the length of the ears so that he has a more rabbity appearance. As is he looks more like a cat than a bunni boi.

But I must say for Maya this is an incredible job and I just can't wait to see more models and shapes.....maybe even.....MIDNIGHT????? :please:
